Tiller School was established by a group of parents and Teachers in 1993 to provide a quality, enriched education for the children of Carteret County. In the spring of 1998, Tiller School applied for and was granted charter status by the North Carolina Department of Instruction. Charter School status provides the school with per child public school funding for operating expenses.
The purpose of the corporation is to maintain an association of persons interested in education; to provide resources and services that will foster learning in each child; to support and cooperate with the teachers to maximize the intellectual, moral, aesthetic, and social development of each student; and to prepare analytically thoughtful and responsible global citizens.
