Tiller’s School’s AIG/Compass Enrichment Program is a program that uses hands-on activities to expand student’s knowledge of reading, social studies, science, math, art, and music. Students will also get a chance to explore computer coding.
This program is facilitated by Ms. Dana Pingatore. Tiller School’s Compass AIG/Enrichment is designed to serve those students performing above grade level expectations with the additional challenge that they require. As educators we know that differentiation is at the heart of best teaching practice. Tiller offers a comprehensive, standards-based K-5 program that includes classroom-based differentiated instruction. We have a designated, specific grade level time to provide targeted instruction to meet individual student needs. During SAIL (Student Academic Individualized Learning) students have flexibility and choice.
Teachers may meet individually or in small groups to attend to students at the level that is most beneficial for them. In addition Compass provides another level of service as both enrichment and an AIG program. Second through fifth grade students meet in our classroom during SAIL time. Collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creativity are at the heart of our program. Students participate in a variety of projects; LEGO Cargo Connect, coding, engineering and design that encourage them to problem solve and think deeply. Compass also accommodates students in class through novel studies and math extension activities. The flexibility of our program allows Kindergarten and first grade students the opportunity to receive enrichment services on an as needed basis depending on the academic strand.
Your child may be identified for enrichment services or formally identified as Academically or Intellectually Gifted. The beginning of the year assessments as well as the current Body Of Evidence (historical academic data / teacher recommendation) will guide our identification process.
